Combining the anthropological traditions of a strong cross-cultural approach and a focus on small-scale cultures, this course offers a unique perspective on the analysis and understanding of the globalization process. Application of anthropological concepts, techniques, and information will be applied to understanding the global mix of cultures increasingly forged by economic development, with particular attention given to the relationships, obligations, and of responsibilities of small and large-scale cultures.

Orientation: No Campus Visits: No Software/Resources: Yes "EthnoQuest" (version 3) - "EthnoQuest" is an interactive multimedia simulation of ethnographic fieldwork encounters in a computer-based learning environment. The simulation allows you to assume the identity of a relatively inexperienced anthropologist who undertakes ethnographic fieldwork in the fictitious Mexican village of "Amopan".
Cross Cultural Relationships is separated into 4 modules. Each module is comprised of short answer questions, journal writing, and/or essays. All modules are open-book, open-Internet, or open-CD ROM. You can begin each module at your own pace, however each module does have a deadline and it must be turned in by this deadline for you to receive credit.
