This course deals with the role of small business in our society, the problems and opportunities connected with starting a new venture, and the management skills required to successfully operate the on-going business. Intended to meet the needs of those now managing a small business, those considering the possibilities of entrepreneurship and those who wish to learn more about how small businesses operate.

Welcome to BUS 219, Section 800!
Here's your "no frills" syllabus including the TOP 26 items to know about Small Business Management (BUS 219-800):
1. This course is 100% online with no on-campus requirements, and its primary goal is to help you learn about managing your own small business.
2. There are two open-book exams, and each exam is worth 50 points.
3. There is one paper to write about business ethics, which is worth 50 points.
4. There is another written assignment, called Adopt-A-Firm (AAF), which is also worth 50 ppints.
5. The deadline to submit your written AAF assignment varies from semester to semester.
6. The deadline to submit your first exam varies from semester to semester.
7. The deadline to submit your business ethics paper varies from semester to semester.
8. The deadline to submit your second exam varies from semester to semester.
9. Managing your time and following instructions are perhaps your two most important "tips for success" in this online course.

15. Checking for important announcements and reminders every Monday is very important.
16. Keep a record of your scores on the exams and written assignments. Scores will be sent to the e-mail address from which you sent them, and they will be posted on Blackboard during the 4th, 8th, 12th, and 16th weeks of the semester.
17. The grade scale for this course is A = 180 or more points, B = 160-179, C = 140 - 159, D = 120 - 139, and F = 0 - 119.
18. The last day to withdraw from this online course and to receive a "W" grade varies from semester to semester.
19. The required text is SMALL BUSINESS MANAGEMENT (14e) by Longnecker, Moore, Petty, and Palich.
20. If you use your CLC e-mail account, you'll receive important Special Delivery announcements and reminders.
21. Due to the nature of online teaching and learning, an "I/complete" grade is not an option in this online course.
